Underground Milonga

Immerse yourself in the authentic spirit of Buenos Aires during A Night of Traditional Tandas this Saturday, September 5, 2026. This evening is dedicated to the classic structure of the dance, where we honor the history and etiquette that make Argentine tango so unique. Whether you are a seasoned milonguero or new to the community, this night focuses on the beautiful flow of the floor and the deep connection found within traditional music.

DJ MJ will be at the booth, carefully selecting sets of golden age tango, vals, and milonga. The evening follows the time honored codes of the cabeceo and the structure of tandas and cortinas, ensuring a respectful and organized social environment. Between dances, you can enjoy courtesy hors d'oeuvres and beverages while relaxing in our welcoming atmosphere.

Hosted by Mirek and Jenya under the Lifetime Tango brand, Underground Milonga has been a staple of the Sarasota dance scene every Saturday since 2020. Our venue, The Ballroom of Sarasota, features a hardwood floor with character that is perfect for a night of social dancing. We take pride in being a home for local regulars while warmly greeting out of town visitors and newcomers to the floor.

No partner is necessary to join us, as our community is inclusive and friendly to all. The evening begins with a beginner class at 7 PM, followed by social dancing from 8 PM to midnight. We invite you to join us at 5660 Swift Road for a sophisticated and memorable night of tango.
